Thursdaytalk - HOTTEST TOPICS ON THE COCKTAIL CIRCUIT

Who's in charge?

1 A recent development has more than just party insiders worried. Members of the public are asking for some kind of clarification to assist them with understanding just what happened and to state clearly, just who is in charge of what?

Concerns over changes

2 Seems the changes being contemplated are not those people are clamouring for. Word that the lady is to be elevated is not going down well. More talk that industry is to be reassigned and that the junior one is to be elevated is causing more than concern in some quarters.

Power grab

3 Some are saying the story now playing itself out in the courts and the media is tantamount to the equivalent of an attempted power grab! The old rule is still applicable: 'Emplo-yees take instructions from their employers, not the other way around'. And in this case, the party is over and those who overstayed their welcome should leave quietly, not fight to remain where they are clearly not welcomed!

Helping the sector?

4 The new measures promising a paltry $500,000 to help out one sector is not playing well within the sector over all. Especially since one major player is demanding US$200,000 and at interest rates of 4 per cent, plus all kinds of other concessions! All eyes are now on the relevant minister and his boss, to see just how they react to the new development.

Of leadership during crisis

5 Where is the stern leadership needed in time of national crisis?

Missing the trip

6. After the debacle with the American Secret Service in New York recently, some are saying do not expect her to be a part of any official delegation any time soon.

Sign of the times

7 Some are a little miffed about the high-profile New Year's Eve party. Seems like the plan was for friends to pool resources and then invite other friends to share in the festivities. Seems like one party never got the memo as this partner offered tickets for sale to a number of people before word got out and caused some major embarrassment. Some are saying it was a misunderstanding, others say it's a sign of the times.

Scandal in the west

8 Another scandal is brewing, but this time out west and it reportedly involves about $30 million. What is still to be determined, however, is if the sum in question is US or Jamaican currency!

Happy riddance?

9 While some of those departing will be missed, others can't wait for some to go, as they contend that those staying on brought very little to the table, except monumental egos, and very little manners or understanding of their roles!

Battling for leadership

10 The fight is now on in earnest as the second tier of would-be leaders jockey to replace the current leadership. Alliances are being made and more and more are taking to the sidelines to see how it all plays out before coming down on any particular future ticket.
