Trinidad and Tobago in total command against Barbados
WEYMOUTH, Barbados (CMC):

Trinidad and Tobago were leading Barbados by 185 runs with nine second-innings wickets standing in their WICB Regional Four-day match yesterday, after a career-best bowling spell from Sherwin Ganga took them to first-innings points.

Ganga collected five wickets for 40 runs, from 22.5 overs, and Amit Jaggernauth snared four for 64 from 40 overs, as Barbados were dismissed for 199, replying to Trinidad and Tobago's first-innings total of 264.

T&T then reached 120 for one in their second innings at the close on the third day of the first-round match at the Police Sports Club, with Adrian Barath unbeaten on 65 and Lendl Simmons not out on 15.

Lost player

The visitors lost Justin Guillen in the final half-hour, when Kemar Roach bowled him for 31 with a yorker which the left-handed opener played across.

Guillen shared an opening stand of 105 with Barath, who reached his 50 when he drove Dwayne Smith through cover for three.

Barath played a wide array of strokes to give T&T a solid platform from which to make a strong bid for victory, but the diminutive opener was fortunate. He was put down twice in his knock that lasted a little over three hours, when Ryan Hinds dropped him at second slip on 24, off Roach, and wicketkeeper Patrick Browne floored him on 41 off Sulieman Benn.

Earlier, spin continued to be the perpetual jinx of Barbadian batsmen in matches against T&T, when Ganga and Jaggernauth combined to run through the tail-end of the Barbadian batting.

Opener Dale Richards ended with the top score of 65, newcomer Rohan Nurse supported with 45, and Benn made 36.
