TAMPA BAY, Florida (CMC):

Jamaican horse racing men Kirk Ziadie and Wesley Henry picked up wins last Friday in Florida and Ziadie's success kept him atop the Tampa Bay Down trainers' standings.

Ziadie's six-year-old mare Dimestore Dolly landed race six at Tampa Bay Downs, while down south, at Hallandale Beach, Henry, the former Jamaica champion jockey, notched his first win at the new Gulfstream Park season.

Seventh-race winner

Henry piloted the seventh-race winner, Tadisha.

Hardly fancied at 13-1 in the 10-horse field, Tadisha was pushed to stay with the leaders from the far turn and straightened in a challenging position.

Henry rallied his mount to lead inside the last furlong and posted a 1-3/4 length victory in the US$24,000 event.

Tadisha won the 6-1/2 furlong sprint in 1:18.99.

It was the first win at the week-old meet for Henry and he is six behind joint leading riders Jose Lezcano and John Velasquez, who have both ridden seven winners so far.

In the US$11,500 sixth race over six furlongs at Tampa Bay, Dimestore Dolly justified her favouritism with an unchallenged win.

Ridden by David Cardoso, Dimestore Dolly led from the start and moved clear in the homestretch to win by 5-1/4 lengths in one minute 11.68 seconds as the 6-to-5 favourite.

Without that victory, Ziadie would have lost the trainers' lead here as Jamie Ness picked up two wins on the card and is now joint leader with Ziadie on nine wins for the season.

NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana (CMC):

Jamaican jockey Shaun Bridgmohan confidently piloted the five-year-old mare, Classify, to victory in Dr A.B. Leggio Memorial Stakes at Fair Grounds last Saturday.

Classify, a 4-to1 bet in the 10-horse field, captured the US$75,000 sprint over 5-1/2 furlongs on turf by 2-3/4 lengths. She won in a time of one minute 04.67 seconds for the continent's top trainer, Steve Asmussen.

Unhurried early, Classify quickened, leaving the far turn and straightened just a length behind the 7-1 bet, Lady Chace.

Bridgmohan roused the roan mare for a winning run on the outside and Lady Chace was no match for her as she moved clear to give the 29-year-old Spanish-Town native his first added-money win of the 2009 season.

"The race set up perfect for her," Bridgmohan said after the race.

"I got her in a good position and when I was ready, I showed her some daylight and she was gone," he added.

The win was Bridgmohan's 22nd of the season and he is sixth in the jockeys' table, which is being led by Jamie Theriot (34).
