NOTE-WORTHY
  • Give us a gas break

Why aren't gas price reductions on the world markets reflected locally? World market prices are down by over 70 per cent. What is the rationale behind the patronising 38 per cent motorists here are now paying?

Even with the constant devaluation of our dollar, something still does not seem right. We are not hearing from those who can enlighten our darkness.

We all need a break, so whoever it is that is not spreading the wealth, at least let us understand why?

  • Extend executive bus service

I think the taxi associations in Manchester and St Elizabeth should think seriously about setting up an executive bus service for people travelling betwen those parishes and Kingston.

This, I believe, can go a long way in helping out middle-class Jamaicans to park their cars and travel to work or take their children to work in a less expensive way.

  • It worked well in Antigua and elsewhere

In Antigua, from June 10, 1993 to June 30, 2007, the governor general was a Seventh-day Adventist and he performed his duties effectively.

In addition, on Solomon Island (South Pacific), the prime minister, who is also a Seventh-day Adventist, carries out his mandate with much dignity and diligence. He served during the periods 2000-2001 and 2006-2007. He currently serves as the leader of the Opposition.

We know that Dr Patrick Allen, like many Jamaicans before him, will perform with excellence and scholarship. We sincerely congratulate Dr Allen on his elevation and wish for him an outpouring of God's richest blessings.
