Today we share snapshots of Jamaicans who attended Tuesday's historic inauguration of America's first black president. The Gleaner's Janet Silvera was at the Caribbean Marketplace party held at Pigeon Island in St Lucia.
"It was surreal being on the Capitol grounds, knowing that we were participating in history in the making. The energy of the crowd was unbelievable and we could have never imagined that there would be an African-American president of the United States in our lifetime. Seeing him take the oath of office evoked a spectrum of emotions. It was a proud moment." said Dr Marlon Maragh.
