Governments have had a lot of stupid ideas concerning crime. Ideas that will do absolutely nothing to prevent or detect crime, but will surely annoy the hell out of decent people and torture innocent ones.

If you want to know how to deal with crime, dial 119. Go ahead, Mr Prime Minister, take out your mobile phone and dial 119. Now, imagine gunmen were breaking into your home, or you heard screams from next door, or whatever you envision 'crime' is.
