EDITORIAL - Getting value for money in education
We probably ought to apologise to Doran Dixon, who is not nearly as well-known nationally as he ought to be. HIs ideas - which we assume he has formulated - for ensuring that the Jamaican taxpayer gets value for the spending on education remain secret.

Obama yes, abortion no
Undoubtedly, the inauguration of President Barack Obama has brought great joy and pride to blacks everywhere. Who would believe that a black man could ever be the president of arguably the most powerful nation in the world? It is certainly one of the greatest historic events of our times!

January 22 marked the 35th anniversary of Roe v Wade, the United States Supreme Court case that gave birth to the landmark decision that overturned all state and federal laws restricting or prohibiting abortion.

Lincoln, Washington, Obama

A more multiracial Britain
If you are the head of something called the Equality and Human Rights Commission, your job is to complain about the racism, gender discrimination and general unfairness of the society you live in. Leadership and indiscipline in schools
Administrators, policy-makers, teachers, parents and the public at large have been struggling to find solutions to the problem of indiscipline in schools. Stabbings, killings, weapons, assaults, fearful teachers and parents and a public in panic (in many areas) are features of life in many school communities.
