Goldsmith Classic on next month

THE 12th annual staging of the Grace Foods/Western Union Youngster Goldsmith Hurdles and Field Events Classics will take place at the Stadium East field on February 7, starting at 8:30 a.m.

More than 40 schools are down to take part in this year's meet, which includes boys' and girls' championships winners Calabar High and Holmwood Technical, respectively. Members of the MVP Track Club will also participate in the meet.

Carol Cuffley will be the event's honouree. The meett is being held in honour of William McLean 'Youngster' Goldsmith, a former featherweight champion of Jamaica and physical instructor at Kingston College.

Deadline for entry forms is January 28, with several events down to be contested, including the 300m hurdles, 400m hurdles, sprint hurdles heats, 400m timed finals, sprint medley relays and 100m timed finals.
