When are we going to do something about the entrance for Super Plus and the Fay Simpson's Preparatory School on Hope Road?
Two problems exist there. First, the island that divides the entrance into entry and exit is ill-shaped and affects the ease with which motorists can negotiate the turns. Second, motorists are not allowed to turn right on to Hope Road when exiting the premises. This could be done prior to the opening of the Super Plus store on the premises, but, since then a sign has been posted at the entrance indicating 'no right turn' on to Hope Road.
This is very inconvenient and really does not seem to make a lot of sense. I am amazed at how long it has been allowed to go on. The police will stand along Hope Road waiting to prosecute some frustrated motorist for making that right turn, but no one seems to see that the current arrangement really does not help and needs to be changed.
We cannot be so counterproductive. The alternative to turning up Hope Road is to turn left and then go on to Half-Way Tree Road. This is very inconvenient and time consuming for persons who have business on or off Hope Road. Motorists who could easily turn right and go along their jolly way have to join the heavy traffic along Half-Way Tree Road and somehow creep back on to Hope Road and its environs.
We need to do better than this. Will the authorities please do something urgently to correct these problems?
I am, etc.,
