Draw with Harbour View leaves Dawes frustrated
Richard Bryan, Gleaner Writer

With hands clasped firmly around his shoulders, coach Chris Dawes took a deep breath and said, even before a question had been asked: "Same old story, every week."

It was an awkward and painful admission of Sporting Central's wretched run, which saw them having the better of play and the lion's share of the chances to score, but settling in the end for a 1-1 draw against second-place Harbour View in their Digicel Premier League encounter at Brancourt yesterday.

Poor performance

Francis Swaby shrugged off a poor performance in front of goal to finally put away one in the 47th minute, which national Under-20 player Levaughn Williams, nick-named 'Country Pele', had made after outclassing the Harbour View defence and their goalkeeper, Dwyane Miller, with a mazy dribble.

Truth to be told, Miller was at his best to deny the trio of Swaby, Williams and Hughan Grey fairly easy chances created by Sporting Central in the quarter following resumption. But a resilient Harbour View would equalise in the 78th minute through the calm precision of substitute Mitchily Waul, whom they had loaned to August Town last season.

In fact, Harbour View could have duly cursed themselve for not pocketing the three points in time added on as good attacking work by Kavin Bryan, down the right flank, provided Andre Fagan with a pass inside the poorly guarded six-yard box.

Satisfied

Despite flunking the chance to win the match and maintain their grip on second place, Harbour View's Brazillian technical director, Waldemar de Oliviera, said he was satisfied with the result.

"Yes, because we missed a lot of players. Some sick (injured) and on cards but we (were) still good in (the) game," de Oliviera noted.
