Sinclair
OLYMPIANS Kenia Sinclair and Korene Hinds continued their 2009 track and field campaign in fine style as following wins two weeks ago in Bermuda, they maintained their winning form at the Tom Jones Memorial Track and Field Meet in Gainsville, Florida, on Saturday.
The meet, which was held in honour of the former legendary coach of the University of Florida who died two years ago from cancer, saw Sinclair winning the one-mile run and Hinds taking the 3000 metres.
Sinclair, who reached the final of the women's 800 metres event at last year's Olympic Games and who was conditioned by Jones, won her event in four minutes, 33.61 seconds with Hinds, her new training partner, finishing third in four minutes, 39.76 seconds.
3000 metres win
Hinds, who competed in the 3000 metres steeplechase in Beijing and who failed to finish in that event, recorded nine minutes, 31.34 seconds to win the 3000 metres.
Two other members of Jamaica Beijing Olympic team also finished in the top three on Saturday at the same meet.
Sherriann Brooks, who ran in the qualifying rounds for the female 4x100 metres relay team, had a second-place finish in the women's 200 metres in 24.10 seconds. The United States' Shalonda Solomon won the event in 23.59 seconds.
Earlier, Brooks was fourth in the 55 metres sprint in 6.83 seconds.
