Africans unite. Claudette Hannah (left) and Lorraine Malcolm went all out in their African-inspired clothing..

'Choose your style ... Chinese, African or Indian', was the theme, or perhaps instructions, given to employees of MegaMart for its annual staff dinner and party. Held on Tuesday, January 20, at the Caymanas Golf and Country Club in St Catherine, employees came out dressed to represent the cultures of their choice. However, it was apparent that there were more 'Indians' in the place than other nationalities.

Most chose to wear their own conventional styles while others accessorised with headdress of the particular culture.

Dinner got under way just after 9 p.m. The late start could be attributed to poor weather delaying the guests. But there was no turning back once things got started.

Chief Executive Officer of MegaMart, Gassan Azan, said the staff function was a special moment as it coincided with the company's 10th anniversary celebration. He said that during the current economic crisis the company's aim was to remain viable and to keep its employees gainfully employed.

To kick-start the night, guests were treated to a buffet-style dinner and entertainment in the form of dances and songs reflecting the different cultures ... African, Indian and Chinese.

All-female group Ebony thrilled the audience with rhythm and blues and reggae selections. Guests sang and danced the night away and got 'revved up' by the group's rendition of Spotlight by Jennifer Hudson.

Following Ebony's performance, it was time to really party to the sounds of New Star disco.

Mrs Chin? Well, not exactly. Meet MegaMart's administration and promotions manager, Delrose Shirley. She was quite at ease in her garb at the company's staff and dinner party with the theme 'Choose your style ... Chinese, African or Indian'.

MegaMart's store manager based at the Water-loo branch in St Andrew, Rosalyn Holmes, is decked out in her pre-dominantly green Indian-inspired garb.

This dancer created quite a stir with her Indian dance moves.
