Bad times don't last forever

Dear Dr Abel,

I read your article and must say that this was the first time. I agree with most of what you have said but I don't agree with the section on the Church.

Let me say that I am a Christian. You said that the church is preaching gloom and doom and that this drives fear into people and scares them. Do you think people are really scared? If so, why are we still doing the things that the Church is preaching against - sin of every kind, killing, stealing, hating each other and not forgiving each another.

You should accept the Lord Jesus as your saviour and give your life back to God and not to hell. Is it not evil which is causing all the pain in the world today? Do we truly love each other in every sense of the word as God said we must love others as we love ourselves?

The church can't lie

Do you want the Church to lie? The Church has to give an account to God one day. It is sad that some of us will not find favour with God. Do you understand that if we truly love each other the world would not be in the state it is today. I know from this statement we could go far back to Genesis in the Bible.

Dr Abel can you please go into the Church and see what it is doing. All the things you have listed are being done in churches around this country and believe me not only the church but you and I in our homes and workplaces can do some of the very things you wrote about. My heart is saddened when I hear people constantly saying that the church is not doing anything. I believe that most of these people don't go to church and if they do, they don't take part in the programmes of the church.

I hope that you understand my writing, I am not very good but I had to say something.
