Winehouse to buy house in St Lucia

Amy Winehouse

The 'Rehab' star has flown back to the Caribbean island - where she spent three months on holiday at the beginning of this year - to view Firefly villa, which is situated on 2.4 acres of private grounds, after being informed that it had gone on the market. It is believed Amy, 25, wants to go back to the idyllic location to try and escape the bad influences in her life in London and focus on her new album.

A source said: "Amy is desperate to get away so she can write in peace and jumped on a plane as soon as she heard the property was up for sale.

Ocean views

"It's set in huge grounds with amazing ocean views and there's a pool and gazebo and it even has its own separate guest cottage. Luckily, it has got 24-hour cleaners and staff so it won't get as messy as her London houses tend to do."

Amy - who moved away from her home in Camden, North London, to the quieter area of Barnet to escape her hard-partying friends when she returned from her extended vacation - is expected to stay in the Caribbean until the end of this month, when she will fly back to perform at a party for her record label Island/Universal.

She is then planning to appear at the St Lucia Jazz Festival, which runs from May 2 to May 10.
