How come?

Kelly

Been absent for a couple of weeks to make way for the outstanding Phenomenal Women. There were so many we had to do two editions.

So, back to work. At the risk of copyright infringement, I've had to ask how come a few times recently.

How come it always seems like workers from different areas seem to be restive at the same time? The tanker drivers, correctional officers and junior doctors all seem to be up in arms. Imagine if they all went on strike. Plenty of riots, no petrol to take the injured to hospital and, if you get there, nobody to treat them! Not good!

How come the West Indies players are still arguing about more money when they can barely beat sorry old England? My uncles and I could put together a curry-goat team and beat England (and we wouldn't need that much payment).

How come what was supposed to be a close contest between Daryl Vaz and Kenneth Rowe turned out to be a beat-down that would make the Rodney King incident look like afternoon tea at Buckingham Palace? This was supposed to be Ali versus Frazier; instead, it turned out to be me versus Usain Bolt!

And speaking of Usain Bolt, how come mere weeks after his coach said he was a little behind in his schedule for the year, he is planning/hosting parties? If Usain wants to throw a little get-together with his close friends and family, that's one thing, but an all out party at The Quad like the one scheduled for last Saturday?

Focus on the track

Look ya nuh man, focus on the track! That's what got you here. Some of the same people who jump with you on Saturday night/Sunday morning are the same ones who will cuss you if you don't do well at the World Championships in Berlin. Mark my words!

How come Luciano get himself inna mix up wid wanted gunman? Hope he has a good explanation.

How come our politicians, even after years of seeing others put their feet in their mouths, still find a way to continue doing it? Like Julian Robinson and the diplomatic passport issue ('louding up' Vaz for not returning his when many of his comrades still had theirs)? Oops!

How come the prime minister is beating up on the poor (some of them literally) old (most of them literally) former parliamentarians who may have dual citizenship? He questioned whether they should pay back their salaries and pensions if they are found to have been ineligible. I know we're trying to collect revenue but man, that's harsh! Lata.

Tell me how come nobody missed me at daviot.kelly@gleanerjm.com
