Girls lack 'killer instincts'? Ha!
The Editor, Sir:

I read Rev Glen Archer's assessment or better yet his opinion that an all-girls School's Challenge team lacks the killer instinct. Ha! I am female and also have been privileged to be on an all-girls School's Challenge team in my younger days. I would never say we lacked motivation, but that in our match with Calabar we were beaten by the better team.

Why not just say Kingston College was better? And if Rev Archer knew this, as coach, this should have been his priority in training. The young women got to the finals for the island, which is no mean feat. It all rests with him to prepare the girls to do their best and not blame gender for defeat.

I work in a man's world in construction in the Middle East and I do my best all the time. I hope I am respected for that and not that I have a man's killer instinct to succeed.

I am, etc.
