Eulalie Albertha Dann, affectionately called 'Birdie', of Feather Bed Lane, St Catherine, and Toronto, Canada, was a very warm and giving mother. She was not one to only look out for her children, but was always going the extra mile for other children.

Her home was always welcoming and open to others. She would especially look out for and adopt children. By profession, she was a seamstress and would sew clothes for the children who would usually fill her home.

Caregiver

"She adopted many and grew them up from as young as six weeks old. There were three girls in particular who she took care of until they were adults. They would all have the same dresses. Even my kids and other family members - we could always leave our kids with her and she would care for them," one of her brothers, Osmond Dann commented.

Birdie was a very cheerful giver. "She would give away what she had to make the other person happy. She was very loving and caring," Dann added.

She was born to parents Elleston and Daphne Dann on November 13, 1934 in Spanish Town, St Catherine. She attended McCook's Primary School in Spanish Town and later became a seamstress. She had one biological daughter, Lorna Campbell. She migrated to Toronto, Canada over 20 years ago.

Birdie peacefully passed away on May 3 in Toronto.

Left to mourn

Her daughter, adopted children, grandchild Alexia Bourne-Hill, two great-grandchildren, 10 siblings, other relatives, many friends and well-wishers survive and miss her.

Her memorial service was held in Toronto on Saturday, May 9. Her thanksgiving service was held on Wednesday, May 20, at the Spanish Town Cathedral. Interment was at St Dorothy's Anglican Church Cemetery, Old Harbour.
