Infield Derby party will be hot, says Chin

Tickets for the first-ever infield Derby Party at Caymanas Park tomorrow have been going very well, according to Track Price Plus' operations manager Arnella Chin, who conceived the idea.

Chin said she came up with the idea after visiting the track earlier this year and noting the absence of young people at the races.

She felt the Derby Party tied in to the biggest raceday of the year would be a good way to appeal to the 18 to 25 age group.

"They could come and have fun under the tent, at the same time tapping in on the excitement of horse racing, especially in this the 50th anniversary year of Caymanas Park," said the young executive at the island's largest bookmaking company.

The party from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. is being organised by Caymanas Track Limited in association with the United Bookmakers Association, first-time sponsors of the Derby.

Admission is $2,000 all-inclusive, and proceeds will go to the Bustamante Hospital for Children. Revellers can wager on their favourite horses under the tent, as betting machines will be in place.

Entertainment will be provided by Bloodline, DJ Inferno from Fame FM and Quantum Sound, while Jinx from RE TV and Supa Hype will alternate as hosts.
