1. The story is that the one who elevated malicious whispers to national discourse is now busy passing the saucer to mount a defence! Problem is, there are no donors!

Quelling disgrace

2. Timing is everything and when the police showed up with the utility company to disconnect the illegal connection, there was a visiting in-law from the wealthy side of the family. It was he who wrote the face-saving cheque to quell the disgrace.

Hot dancing!

3. There's a new email circulating in cyberspace which shows people at a popular dance indulging in sexual acts openly on a makeshift 'stage'. The act is so graphic, some are now calling on the powers that be to police these nightly dances or exert some kind of control.

4. Some have a new name for him. They have now dubbed him 'The Highfaluting Squatter'.

Overseas duties

5. Some of our representatives overseas are complaining bitterly about the absence of an understanding of the protocol governing their role. They say some officials, when they visit, expect them to perform the services of porters, bellhops and even butlers/maids.

Financial crunch

6. Seems as if, as the financial crunch takes its toll, the haves are finding more and more ways of preventing pilferage from the pantry. Some are now installing in-house surveillance cameras; in other cases, the household help has been doing extra duties as stock clerks.

7. Some members of staff say our last report was erroneous as there will indeed be a party - one to celebrate their departure!

What a flogging!

8. The bachelor who showed up at the popular nightspot the other night with a younger, prettier version of his steady was in for a rude surprise. The steady was at their usual table and when she spotted him and her younger version, she flew into an almighty rage, which led to her beating the living daylights out of him, right there in public. And if that was not enough, after he left, his head hung low, she proceeded to disparage his reputation and character, so much so, she is no longer welcome in some circles. She is not taking her fall from grace lightly, though, and is still out there dirtying him up!
