Portmore United received a $2.3-million boost from Locker Room Sports through the brand Nike ahead of the upcoming Premier League season, which begins next month.
The one-year sponsorship will see members of the Portmore United team, along with coaching staff, outfitted with Nike jerseys for home and away matches, balls, travel and gym bags, sweatsuits, caps and director's shirts.
David Shirley, managing director of Locker Room Sports, made the announcement yesterday at Locker Room Sports, Mall Plaza.
Locker Room Sports is also the gear sponsors for promoted Premier League team August Town, through their new brand Velle.
Shirley said his company was delighted to be associated with Portmore United.
Sponsorship
Trevin Nairne, general manager of Portmore United, the team which finished second in the Premier League competition last season behind champions Tivoli Gardens, said the club was very grateful for the sponsorship.
"This is very significant because this is $2.3 million that we don't have to go and search for," he said.
The general manager also said the club was very excited that Locker Room Sports appreciated Portmore's emphasis on personal and community development.
