Lights,camera, inaction!

Amid the humdrum haggling in daylight, with horns blaring, hawkers zigzagging through the streets, money changing hands, the crush of bodies jostling for space on sidewalks, Jamaica's main metropolis and its satellite suburbs may seem to be everything but paradisical.

But when the veil of darkness falls, the crowds dissipate and the cacophony subsides, sections of Kingston morph into art subjects that leave beauty's beholder awestruck. Absolutely orgasmic!

Our photographer, Ricardo Makyn, caught glimpses of the luminous nocturnal beauty. Enjoy!

CAPTIONS:

(1) A breathtaking view of the city from Look Out in Red Hills, St Andrew.

(2) The wharves at dusk.

(3) Lights at the Carib Cement factory in Rockfort, Kingston, stand out against the pitch-black hillside backdrop.

(4) Two ships docked nearby the Carib Cement plant cast a glorious reflection at night.

(5) The three edifices that dominate the downtown Kingston skyline: (from left) the Bank of Jamaica, Scotiabank Centre and the Air Jamaica building.

(6) Red and white streaks from cars whizzing along the Palisadoes roadway.
