Eight pairs from Hanover and sixteen pairs from St James qualified for the grand final of the Excelsior Domino Pairs Championship to be held November 8 at UTech.
St James recorded the highest number of entries at a parish location when 84 pairs turned up at the Montego Bay Cricket Club for competition on Sunday, October 11.
At the Jockey Factory in Lucea, Hanover last Saturday, the top pair of Patrick Williams and Garfield Higgins prevailed over Adrian Morris and Donovan Quarrie of Dias 6-3, 6-3 in their best of three sets.
In St James, at the Montego Bay Cricket Club, the pair of Cleveland Rose and Anthony Baker beat Carlton Minott and Horace Brown.
The winning pairs walked away with $15,000 while the runner-up took home $8,000.
Action continues today in Trelawny (V. Barnett Lawn, Skateland) and tomorrow in St Mary (Lyric Theatre).
Ricardo Sterling and Rivaldo Walters shared four goals to lead Gayle Primary to an easy 4-1 victory over Three Hills Primary as the James Bond Beach Primary School Championships continued on Thursday.
In the games played at James Bond Beach Complex in Oracabessa, St Mary, Sterling scored in the 26th and 45th minutes, while Rivaldo Walters netted in the 23rd and 38th minutes.
Three Hills Primary's lone goal came from the boot of Javoy Reid, scored in the 17th minute.
The Three Hills Primary girls did better on the court than the footballers, beating their opponents from Gayle Primary 10-1.
The annual Manchester Table Tennis Tournament, to be staged by the Manchester Table Tennis Association (MTTA), is set for October 24-25, in the Manchester High School Auditorium, starting 9 a.m. each day.
Parish events - for players living in or working daily in the parish - will be held on the first day, while open events, for players from across the island, will be held on the second day.
Play on the first day will be used to crown parish champions in various categories, featuring the men's and women's singles, for overall parish champions. Other events to be contested will be the veterans over-40 singles, veterans over-50, male under-21 singles, boys and girls singles for age groups under-18, under-15 and under-13 singles, plus parent/child doubles.
Open events for the second day will be Men's Open, Women's Open, Men's 'B' (under 2000 rating), Men's 'C' (under 1750 rating), Women's 'B' (under 1450 rating), plus boys and girls singles for age groups under-18, under-15. under-13 and under-10.

Entry fees for the Open Events are $1000 for the Men's Open and $600 for other senior events, and $300 for junior events. Entry fees for parish events are $500 for seniors and $250 for juniors, with closing date for submitting entries being Wednesday, October 21.
Arsenal secured the final slot for the St Mary 7-a-side football last Sunday with a convincing 5-1 win over Mason Hall United.
Kimberly Simms netted twice while Cleon Willis, Richard Scott and Sanjay Ennis were the other scorers.
The finals and awards ceremony will take place on October 25 at the James Bond Beach Complex in Oracabessa.
Colours International hunt fourth win
Defending champs Colours International are expected to win their fourth match in six tries when they take on Hamilton Gardens in a Wray and Nephew White Overproof Rum cricket Group B encounter at the Bridgeport sports ground tomorrow.
In another Group B match, second place Portsmouth (10), play bottom club Cumberland, at the Hamilton Gardens ground.
Colours lead the group with 14 points, while Hamilton Gardens are third with six points, and only a single win. In Group A, leaders Reid's Pen (12) will challenge last place Washington CC (six), at the Ken's Wildflower ground, while second place Ken's Wildflower (10), lock horn with minnows Belmont at the Lime Tree Oval.
The curtain comes down on the 2009 Colin Fagan South East St Catherine Domino Competition tomorrow with Westchester United opposing Westchester Nuckuzs in the final at Garveymeade Sports Club starting at 1 p.m.
Both Westchester teams advanced to the final last Sunday following easy wins.
Westchester United defeated Ken's Wildflower 250-239 in one semi-final at Garveymeade, while Westchester Nuckuzs whipped favourites Passagefort United 250-210 in the other semi-final match at Ken's Wildflower, Portmore Plaza.
The winners of tomorrow's final will receive $70,000 and a trophy, while the runners-up will secure $40,000.
The competition is sponsored by Member of Parliament for South East St Catherine, Colin Fagan.
The Hot Shots/Pool Tables and Billiards Supplies 12th ranking pool tournament takes place today and tomorrow at Hot Shots, 103 Constant Spring Road, starting at 3 p.m. on both days.
The double elimination eight-ball tournament offers a first prize of $50,000 and a trophy, second of $20,000 and a trophy, third and fourth of $5,000 each. Entry fee is $2,500.
Meanwhile, former top-ranked player, Sunil 'Termite' Kissendal, was in devastating form last Sunday, winning a lucrative pool tourney in Spanish Town.
Kissendal whipped the season's top ranked player, Ewart Hall, 4-0 in the best of seven final and another big name player, Noel 'Schoolboy' Blagrove from MoBay 3-0 in the semis. For his efforts, he received $30,000.
Kissendal, who won the Kingston Beer singles title last December at the expense of Blagrove, is expected to play in this weekend's tournament along with Hall and Blagrove.
