Coach Andrew Price was in a jubilant mood following a goal in stoppage-time from Oneil 'Chippy' McDonald, which earned visiting team Boys' Town a hard-fought one-nil victory over St Georges Sports Club at Lynch Park on Sunday.

Price lauded the effort of his team, which he believes played the full 90 minutes of the Digicel Premier League encounter involving third-place St Georges against his fourth-place side, Boys' Town.

"It's good to earn three points at Lynch Park, especially against a team like Georges," he said.

"Most people have written off McDonald but he is still a quality player. His experience paid off well for us in the dying minutes of the game. It was a good team effort and I must say well played to Georges."

Both teams were quite even in the first half, although Georges got the better opportunities. However, poor finishing on the part of ace striker Damion Harwood - on the slippery surface - led to the first half ending nil-all.

Free kicks

At the start of the second half, Georges earned two free kicks; one in the 50th minute from almost 25 yards that was taken by Daniel Shaw, which shaved the right upright; and the other in the 59th minute, only this time Shaw was denied by good goalkeeping from Kirk Porter, who dived to pull of a save.

Harwood was replaced by Romeo Parkes in the 67th minute, while Price replaced Andrew Wheeler with McDonald in the 72nd.

That substitution paid off with the game's lone goal.

It started by way of a counter-attack through Michael Campbell, who found Dwayne Ford. The ball was played back to George Vernal inside Georges' 18-yard box and then to McDonald, who fired past goalkeeper Anthoniel Williams, just on the edge of the six-yard box.

Losing coach Braxton Hyre, though disappointed with the result, commended his team for putting up a fierce battle.

"We had our chances but failed to hit the back of the net," he said. "Both teams played well and it was only in stoppage time when our defence appeared to have lost concentration, that we conceded a goal."
