Village United squandered a spate of easy chances yesterday afternoon and in the end had to settle for a 0-0 draw against Rivoli FC in their Digicel Premier League Fixture at the Elliston Wakeland Youth Centre in Falmouth.

The Paul 'Tegat' Davis-coached Village team, which was aiming to make it three wins in a row, must be cursing their luck, as even in stoppage time, the easiest of opportunities fell to substitute Marucio Gordon, who miskicked with the goalkeeper at his mercy and causing several of his teammates to grab their heads in dismay.

Need to be consistent

"The energy level was quite good and we created enough chances to have won the game easily," said Davis after the match. "We just need to be consistent in front of the goal by putting away the chances."

Rivoli FC, who now lift their tally to 30 points, three more than Village United, were seemingly quite satisfied with the result as according to assistant coach Oniel Thomas, their first objective was not to lose the game.

"While we would have been happier with all three points, we are happy with the point we got," said Thomas. "Getting a point on the road is a result we can live with, as we did not create many opportunities today."
