Jamalco 'up for the challenge'
Robert Bailey, Gleaner Writer

Just about everything fell into place for Jamalco, as they went about pulverising Jetsetters 'A' in their Jamaica Netball Association (JNA)/Berger Paints Super League contest.

The Clarendon-based unit never quite racked up the desired tally, but got close enough in an easy 78-34 triumph at the Leila Robinson Courts.

"It was an outstanding perfor-mance from the girls on Saturday because we had a plan that we wanted to score 80 goals, but we were able to score 78, which was very good for us," said their coach, Winston Nevers.

Former national goal-shooter and captain, Elaine Davis, led the way for Jamalco with a superb 67 goals from 75 attempts. The other goals were netted by Marsha Murphy, who sank 11 from 13 tries.

National Under-21 representative, Crystal Gordon, led the scoring for Jetsetters 'A' on 22 from 29 shooting.

Jetsetters 'A' were suffering their second defeat in a row.

Jamalco are seeking their seventh hold on the title and Nevers admits there is much work to be done.

"We have to continue to train hard to improve on our performances because it is going to be very difficult for us whenever we play against the top teams in the competition.

"However, we are up for the challenge and the girls are very focused at the moment."

In another third round match, Speg 'A', led by a game-high 36 goals (49 tries) from national Under-16 representative, Marvadeen Anderson, defeated Police 'A' 45-41.
