LETTER OF THE DAY - Right to be employed just because?
The Editor, Sir: I could not help but be amused while I watched TVJ's newscast on Monday night and saw the report about the many residents of St Ann turning up at the Gran Bahía Príncipe hotel demanding jobs, simply because, by coincidence, they lived in proximity to the hotel....

Very selfish school system
THE EDITOR, Sir: WHY IS it that grade 11 students in some secondary schools are not being registered for English language and mathematics?Is it that the Government is not paying for both subjects?Many of the secondary schools in the country...

Equally Jamaicans
The Editor, Sir: Mr Beckford's letter (Ques-tions about diaspora representation - March 30) reminds me of an advert showing a bridge being built from both sides of a river, but ending up yards out of sink.

Kudos to pig farmers
The Editor, Sir: The positive article that The Gleaner highlighted on Monday regarding Noel and Lloyd McKay and their pig and cattle farming is refreshing. I look forward to reading more articles like this.

What qualifies a parent?
The Editor, Sir: I do not believe the creation of a life should be based on the ability of two persons' sexual skill or the fulfilment of their yearning, but rather on their capability to parent a child in providing most, if not all, the fundamentals...

Catch them first
The Editor, Sir: "You can't be a person buying a $40-million town house with three swimming pools, yet still when we check, you are not on the tax roll" - Prime Minister Golding."This can't be fair for the man or woman earning $4,000 per week...

Silence threats from gay community
The Editor, Sir: Gay activists are targeting Jamaica because it is an easy target - plain and simple. Many US states have a constitutional amendment defining marriage as between one man and one woman.
