Satisfier outstays Nasatol
Orville Clarke, Gleaner Writer

The evergreen 10-year-old gelding SATISFIER floored the odds-on 3-5 favourite NASATOL at Caymanas Park yesterday to win the $600,000-$550,000 special claiming over 1400 metres, feature event on the 10-race programme.

Offering odds of 3-1, SATISFIER, well ridden by the claiming apprentice Rayan Wilson for trainer Joseph Thomas, raced prominently into the straight as the fleet-footed GOOD SENSE (10-1) made most in a field of eight.

NASATOL, who was never far off the pace, made good headway on the outside approaching the home turn, and although running wide into the straight actually got first run on SATISFIER as they swung into the straight. But SATISIFER was not to be denied and, running on gamely in mid-track, outfinished NASATOL midway through the last furlong to beat the accomplished eight-year-old grey gelding by three-quarter length.

Top class

A dark bay gelding by The Medic out of the Peacemaker mare Midnight Angel, SATISFIER, who campaigned in the top class in his younger years, has won 26 races from 124 starts and $9.4 million in stakes. This was, in fact, his third win from four starts this season. It is interesting to note that the two oldest horses in the field had the finish to themselves. And both combined have won a total of 47 races.
